Rules

America's Little Miss looks for girls with sparkling personalities. No pageant experience is necessary! Light makeup and/or a light "sun-kissed" tan are allowed so that delegates are not "washed out" by stage lights; however, these should be age appropriate and only enhance the child's beauty. Hair extensions are allowed but not to be overdone. Fake teeth (flippers) and anything else that ages the contestant are not necessary. This is not a glitz pageant and everything should be age appropriate.

The national titles are non contract-binding, but you must return to the pageant next year to crown your successor. You are not allowed to compete in another pageant that would require you to give up your state or national title; however, you may compete in other pageants as long as they allow you to keep your title.

Participation in a state or regional contest requires the contestant's parent or legal guardian reside, attend school or work in the state or region as detailed by the regional contest. Participants must be age 0-15 as of July 1, 2017.

*Ages 0-5 please visit our "Mini Nationals" section for more information.

Required phases of competition

Introduction & Personality (33% of total score)
Each contestant will introduce herself as follows:
"Hello, my name is (insert name) I am (insert age) years old and I am representing (insert state or region)

Each contestant will wear the following attire during this segment:
White sneakers (white must be the dominant color, but the sneaker can have a stripe or splash of another color)
White socks NOT ABOVE THE KNEE
White shorts NOT BELOW THE KNEE with a belt
White t-shirt provided by America's Little Miss Organization

After each contestant introduces herself, she will be asked an on-stage question. These questions are meant to get to know the contestant better.   We are looking for a great personality, public speaking ability & beautiful inner glow.

America's Fashion Model (33% of total score)
Each contestant will wear the same outfit she wore during the Introduction & Personality phase of competition. SHE IS NOT ALLOWED TO CHANGE ANY PART OF HER ATTIRE FOR THIS SEGMENT. The judges are looking at each contestant's modeling abilities.

Formal Wear (33% of total score)
Each contestant will wear a formal gown of her choice. This is not a "glitz" pageant. The contestant should appear comfortable on stage, just as the audience should feel comfortable watching her on stage. The dress should fit well and exude her personality. Again, it needs to be age-appropriate.

Remember: Wear the dress- don't let it wear you! Pick your favorite one so you appear comfortable on stage. Judges are assessing the natural beauty of each contestant in formal attire that she loves!
